The Viterbo men's soccer team didn't yet know if they could call themselves conference champions, but they did know that they took home a landmark win for the program on Oct. 24.

However, the V-Hawks' 2-0 win over Grand View in their final regular season game, while meaningful in the MCC standings, was important to the team in more ways than that. Viterbo had not beaten Grand View in eight years, and the victory goes a long way in showing the strides that the program has made in recent years.
Just two seasons ago Viterbo finished with four wins, a far cry from the ten victories that propelled them to a second-place conference finish this season. Despite a frustrating month of September that included a stretch of four losses in five games, the V-Hawks recovered for their best season since 1999.
James Lockley and Jake Wenzel contributed goals in the win over Grand View, while freshman goalie Josh Lines had eight saves.
