Men’s basketball opens with win

The Viterbo men's basketball team opened their 2009-2010 season with a resounding 78-58 victory over Trinity Christian College.

Eric Ambrose led the V-Hawks with 25 points, while Scott Buschman contributed 19 points and 15 rebounds. Ryan Ambrose and Cameron Johnson were also double-digit scorers for Viterbo, with 13 and 10 respectively.

The V-Hawks jumped out to a 36-21 halftime lead and never looked back. Free throw shooting proved to be a major factor in the contest, as Viterbo knocked down 27 of 32 attempts, good for an 84 percent mark.

Viterbo will host the annual Viterbo Pepsi Invitational Tournament on Nov. 20 and Nov. 21, opening up against Silver Lake College at 7 p.m. Friday. On Nov. 24 cross-town rival UW-La Crosse will travel to the Viterbo campus to battle for the Alumni Cup.
