We truly are in a blessed society, and I have known in many instances the help and grace of others while growing up. There is no reason for the greatest nation on this earth to have families who do not have food on their table. One class raised over 1,000 pounds of food for the Hunger Task Force in one day (actually half an hour). The food raised will help feed the families in the area for only three days.
What would happen if we galvanized our mission to make the world a better place starting with our own university /community? Of the many classes that are offered each day, what would be the effect if we were truly our brothers and sisters keepers? What would we have accomplished if we were actually able to get more than one class to participate in this great endeavor?
We are more than classes and reports and reading and such. We are here to experience life and growing intellectually, culturally, and spiritually. I invite you to get involved in your school, your community and your faith. It is not too much to ask in helping a child not go to bed hungry. We can and must do better and it is an institution like Viterbo that makes the difference each day. Help us, join us and eliminate the problem of hunger in our community.
