Bad drivers, winter don't mix

After living in La Crosse for the last three years, the thing that still seems to surprise me is the number of bad drivers on the road. I cannot count the times I have almost been hit by another car because they don't see me in the lane right next to them, or they pull out right in front of me and I have to slam on my brakes so I don't hit them. How he or she passed their driver's test is beyond me.
I'm not saying that everyone in La Crosse is a bad driver. However, there are many drivers who seem to think the rules don't apply to them—forcing everyone else to fend for themselves or suffer the dents and damages to their own vehicle.
It's time drivers around here remember that they are not the only cars on the road (other people drive too). With the first snowfall last week, pay attention to how close you following the car in front of you—you never know when someone may have to slam on their brakes. It seems like common sense, but make sure you look for other cars in the next lane before you start merging. Don't pull out in front of other cars, wait your turn like you're supposed to. Don't run red lights, don't speed, and seriously people, just pay attention on the road.
