Undoubtedly, many students face nights when homework is done, entertainment is needed, but money isn't there. The tight budgets most students have can be limiting on a Friday night, especially when Avatar seems to be the only movie showing in any theatre.
However, there is a solution to this entertainment quandary: student recitals.
Viterbo's Theatre, Music Theatre, and Music departments all have talented students that are required to put together free recitals for the general public. This can range from ornately dressed singers lamenting a lost love to actors playing a scene from a risqué contemporary play. The depth and breadth of performances make it likely that there's something for everyone at least one of the shows.
Another bonus: after supporting your fellow Viterbo classmates in their artistic endeavors, there is a reception with food. Students and the community mingle together to enjoy the production, each other's company, and generously provided refreshments.
These recitals occur throughout the spring semester, with posters advertising them around campus and notifications on Viterbo's events calendar and through the daily communication e-mail. Here's an outline of the recitals for this spring:

- April 17, 2 p.m.: Senior music recital—Dawn Burmeister, Recital Hall
- April 17, 5 p.m.: Junior music recital—Marysa Abbas, Recital Hall
