This Mother’s Day, May 9, at 2 p.m., Viterbo University’s Concert Choir and 9th Street Singers will be performing their last concert of the year at the San Damiano Chapel.
The choir has had a busy year, performing not only for a conference of Wisconsin’s choral and instrumental directors in November, but for the American Choral Directors Association in the North Central Division in March.
The choir also traveled to England to perform a New Year’s Day performance of Handel’s “Messiah” in London, taking pit stops along the way to perform other concert repertoire with the 9th Street Singers.
The Concert Choir, directed by Jean Saladino, will be performing a wide range of pieces, from examples of early music such as “O Magnum Mysterium” to “Io Son la Primavera,” a contemporary piece performed by Chanticleer, one of the world’s most prominent choirs of all-male voices. The 9th Street Singers, a select ensemble of voices directed by Diane Foust, will be singing from their repertory that includes classical madrigals, jazz standards, and contemporary music.
