Viterbo's Theatre and Music Theatre department will be kicking off the spring semester in the Black Box Theatre Feb. 4—6 with their production of Anton In Show Business, an award-winning comedy that lampoons the stereotypes of theatre life, from the diva actress to the dim-headed producer.
The show, a winner of the 2,000 American Theatre Critics/Steinberg New Play Award, revolves around the events occurring behind the scenes of a production of Anton Chekhov's The Three Sisters (which, incidentally, Viterbo will be presenting later this spring). An all-female cast will be performing, with three of the seven women performing multiple roles, playing men and women.
Anton In Show Business is written by Jane Martin, with this name being the possible pen name of retired artistic director Jon Jory. David Gardiner will be directing Viterbo's production. Show times will be at 7:30 Feb. 4-6, with general admission at $10, with student discounts at $5. Tickets are available at Viterbo's box office.
